Abstract
For laying of road in soft or clay soil, sub base strengthening has to be done. A number of synthetics materials are adopted for the same. The CBR or California Bearing Ratio is a measure of the strength of the soil. Replacement of synthetic material with natural coir fiber has increased the CBR value. The various form developed for the applications are non woven, rubberized and needle punched coir.
