The maximum compressive strength of 80.50N/mm2 of mix ratio F60 G4. Also the split tensile strength and flexural strength for F60 G 40 Was done.

    Casting industries produce millions of tons of by-product in India. In tamilnadu, million tons of waste foundry sand is produced yearly. Waste foundry sand major by-product of casting industry and it creates land pollution. The river fine aggregate will be replaced with waste foundry sand and M-Sand (WFS 0%, 15%, 20%, 25%) in concrete. So that the land pollution can be reduced and the demand for the river sand can be minimized. Research has being carried out to know the exact percentage of waste foundry sand (WFS) in M-Sand for concrete. Concrete manufacturing involve consumption of ingredients, aggregates, water and admixture(s). Among all the ingredients, coarse aggregates form the major part. Two billion tons of coarse aggregate are produced each year in United States. Production is expected to increase to more than 2.5 billion tons per by the year 2020. Similarly, the consumption of the primary aggregate was 110 million tons in U.K in the year 1960 and reached nearly 275 million tons by 2006. The properties of coconut shell by using partial replacement of coarse aggregate in concrete. The coconut shell by using (10%) in coarse aggregate. The project paper aims at analyzing flexural and compressive strength characteristics of with partial replacement using M20 grade concrete. Compression test has been done to find out the compressive strength of concrete at the age of 7, 14, and 28 days. Test result indicates in increasing compressive strength of plain concrete by inclusion of WFS as a replacement of fine aggregate and partial replacement of coarse aggregate.

    Cloud service selection under diverse nature of the cloud services is still an open issue. Unlike web services which are all selected based on WSDL description, cloud services cannot be selected as there is no standard representation of cloud services as most of the cloud services are described in natural language. In this paper we proposed a cloud service mentor system which is built upon semantic technologies and has three ontology structures for cloud services namely SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS ontology. This system parses the cloud service description documents through natural language handling method and major concept of the cloud service is identified. Based on the major concept of the cloud service the cloud service ontology is updated. The user request is processed using natural language handling methods and ambiguous connectives (AND, OR) are used to refine the request based on first order horn clause logic and DNF. Then the SPARQL queries are generated to retrieve the corresponding cloud services from ontology repository. The performance evaluation of the system shows that this system outperforms other methods and provides better results.

The most notable approaches rely on the description of Web services using semantics. This new breed of Web services, termed Semantic Web Services (SWSs) aim to improve the possibilities for automated discovery, composition and invocation of Web Services by providing ontology-based service descriptions expressed in a formal language. Several approaches have been driving the development of Semantic Web Service frameworks such as OWL-S (Ontology Web Language for Services), WSMO (Web Service Modeling Ontology) and IRS (Internet Reasoning Service). This paper focuses on survey on semantic technology centered on rescue of data and service collection system.

    Boiler is a machine that produces steam from the water resulting from combustion of fuels such as fiber, coal, black oil, gas, and diesel. Commonly in industry they use PLC to move all operations of Boiler system. This project is mainly concerned on boiler control system by using microcontroller PIC 16F877A. If the drum feed water level goes to too low, the drum itself can become overheated, possibly resulting in catastrophe. Feed water and drum level control has two modes of automatic operation: single- and three-element control. The drum level set point for both modes is set by the operator. In a single-element control the difference between the drum level and the drum level set point provides the error signal that is used by the single-element controller to control the rate of water entering the drum by modulating the feed water flow control valve. Three-element control governs the three variables that are used in this control scheme: drum level, steam flow, and feed water flow. Three-element control is much more stable and robust than single-element control. In this project the total Drum level, feed water and steam flow are controlled by single Microcontroller IC using hi-tech embedded technology.

    With advent of various technologies of communication a person can access the whole world at one go. The impact of internet on our day to day life has been so huge that we could not think of a day without it. It has become a fundamental requirement in our daily lives. Survey reports show that nearly 46% of homes throughout the world have access to the internet. And the percentage is growing each day. With such a high rising demand there has been a looming crisis of Radio Frequency spectrum, which paved the way of the invention of the new technology:-LI-FI. LI-FI, acronym of light fidelity, is a modern wireless technology which has the ability to provide high speed internet connection within localized environment. Till today we are familiar with WI-FI which has been using radio frequency spectrum for its communication. Even though it gives a speed of nearly 150mbps (as per IEEE802.11n), it isn’t sufficient to satisfy all users. On the other hand LI-FI uses spectrum which comprises a wide range of frequencies, from the infrared through visible, down to the ultraviolet spectrum for communication which has the ability to produce a theoretical speed of 10Gbps. Actually this technology comprises of sub- gigabit and gigabit-class communication speeds for short, medium and long ranges, as well as has the option of unidirectional or bidirectional data transfer using line-of-sight or diffuse links, reflections and much more. It is not only confined to LED or laser technology or to any specific receiving technique, LI- FI is a framework for all those technologies which provides new ways to all present as well as future services or applications.

    Garbage bins placed at public places in the cities are overflowing due to increase in the waste every day. It creates unhygienic condition for the people and produces bad smell around the surroundings which spreads some deadly diseases & human illness. To avoid such a situation “IoT Based Waste Management Using Smart Dustbin” is designed. Multiple dustbins located throughout the city or the Campusare considered. These dustbins are provided with sensors which help in tracking the level of the garbage bins and an unique ID is provided for every dustbin in the city, so that it is easy to identify which garbage bin is full. When the level reaches the threshold limit, the device will transmit the level along with the unique ID provided. Once the bins are full then user will not be able to access the bins. In such circumstances the bin displays the direction of the nearby bins on LED displays. It also generates the voice messages if the user place the waste on the floor. The status of the bin is accessed by the concern authorities from their place with the help of Internet and an immediate action is taken to replace overflowing bins with the empty bins.For this system,Microcontroller processes the data from the sensor and it sends information to the authorized person via IoT.To monitor and integrate, an android application is developed for transmitting and storing the desired information which is related to the various level of waste in different locations. This ensures the green and clean environment.

    This paper presents a brain computer interface (BCI) to control a robotic arm by brain signals from visual stimuli. The following signal processing steps were established; acquisition of brain signals by electroencephalography (EEG) electrodes; noise reduction; extraction of signal characteristics and signal classification. Reliable brain signals were obtained by the use of the commercial hardware. The commercial software was used to program the signal processing algorithms. By using Matlab together with an Arduino electronic board, two servo motors were controlled to drive two joints of a 5 degrees-of-freedom robot commanded by P300-type evoked potential brain signals from visual stimulation when a subject concentrates on particular images from an image matrix displayed in the computer screen. The experiments were conducted with and without hearing and visual noise (artifacts) to find out the noise influence in the signal classification outcome. The obtained experimental results presented an efficiency in the identification stage up to 100% with and without hearing noise conditions. However, under visual noise conditions a maximum efficiency of 50% was reached. The experiments for the servomotors control were carried out without noise, reaching an efficiency of 100% in the identification stage.

    In this letter, we propose an energy efficient ZigBee-based outdoor light monitoring and control system that can monitor and handle outdoor lights more efficiently as compared to the conventional systems. The proposed system uses the GPS-based wireless devices which allow more efficient lamps management. The designed system uses sensors to control and guarantee the optimal system parameters. Today, population density shifts towards urban centers have resulted in the constant rise of energy consumption in cities. Due to the cost and technical restrictions of strengthening the infrastructure at the same rate, alternative energy sources must be sought in order to meet these increased energy demands. This study presents a street lighting system which consumes minimum energy from the city network. Here the lights are switched via IoT. The voltage consumed by the system is also monitored remotely.

    Inmany DSP applications, the design of Multiply and accumulate (MAC) unit defines the efficiency of the overall system. Similarly Multiple Constant Multiplication (MCM) is the multiplication operation between the particular input variable and the variable coefficients constants, which is used in FIR filters. This MCM is performed by using constant multiplier, which is implemented using some prior algorithms. Variable-bit BCSE algorithms is the one which belongs to BCSE algorithm. In this methodparallel prefix computation logic is used for the addition process in Vertical-Horizontal Binary Common Sub-expression Elimination (VHBCSE) based constant multiplier design. In this paper ripple carry adder (RCA) is replaced by the parallel prefix adders (PPA) like a Brent Kung adder (BKA) and Ling adder in the PPG and control addition layer. The VHDL language is used to design the constant multiplier, using ripple carry adder, Brent Kung adder and Ling adder. Thus the comparison between this different design in terms of performance parameters like power, delay and area is achieved by the FPGA implementation using Xilinx ISE 9.2i synthesis tool.

    Approximate computation decreases the design complexity of error rebounding applications. This paper deals with the approximation process for optimizing power, area and delay. The partial products of multiplication are altered based on their probability and approximated. Due to the use of probability in computation, complexity of partial product is reduced. The proposed two approximate designs are applied to 4-bit multiplier. Multiplier uses different adders like Ripple Carry Adder (RCA), and Carry Look Ahead adder (CLA). They have better precision when compared to the existing method. For the two approximate design power, area and delay constraints are compared for the multiplier with and without approximation. Multiplier designed with two approximate designs consumes low power when compared to the existing method. The proposed Multiplier 1 saves 45% & 55% of power than the existing and exact multiplier. VHDL coding is computed and the synthesis results are obtained by the Model Sim software. Power consumption, Delay and Logic Utilization are estimated using the Spartan 3E Xilinx kit.

This paper sketches the many stages of operations involved in the conversion of PLC and SCADA color mixing mechanism towards a fully automated color making machine using Arduino. The preliminarystage of the design focuses on passing the inputs of color mixing with the selection of color in MATLAB GUIand making process with primary colors. With the help of mixing tanks all colors coming from the process will be mixed in the required proportion. Color will be mixed using mixed motor. Generally from RBY colors, twelve colors will be made with different proportions.The Arduino is used for the internal storage of instruction for the implementing function such as logic, sequencing, timing, counting and arithmetic to control through digital or analog input / output modules various types of machines processes.

To protect the boiler fans there is a need to perform interlocking mechanism. Whenever there is a damage in any one of the three boiler fans such as PA fan, ID fan and FD fan immediately the remaining fans are shutdown using interlocking mechanism.

It is connected at the distribution transformer site and the above factors are inscribedby means of the analog to digital converter (ADC) of the embedded system. If any deviation or an disaster situation occurs the method sends SMS (short message service) messages to the mobile phones containing in sequence about the irregularity according to some predefined information programmed in the microcontroller. This cell phone system will help the transformers to manage smoothly and identify evilsfacing any terrible failure.

    In textile industries, the problem is that there is less gain of product due to lack of interest of the workers because of the continuity of the same work. In order to achieve the maximum gain in a shortest period as well as creating interest among the workers, Design of multimode wireless broadcasting system using nRF is proposed. In textile industries, the progress of work completion should be intimated to the workers to complete the assignment in time. Hourly targets are fixed to different teams to complete the work orders. In practical, some microphone based announcement systems are followed to intimate the progress to the workers and some companies follows the chalk and board procedures. Here we proposes a multi-node wireless broadcast system using radio frequency of range 2.4 GHz. In this system, an admin will enter the hourly target in a personnel computer. The proposed wireless system will works for the distance of 1200 meters in line of sight and 500-600 meters in off sight. The wireless device will act as a transceiver and in the receiver node, there will be a LCD/LED monitor to display the targets. For the purpose of compaction, maintenance free and for low power consumption, the LCD/LED is proposed here. Each and every nodes are assigned with different addresses, by the way the admin may easily sent the different data to different nodes.

    Recent hearing aid systems (HASs) can connect to a wireless microphone worn by the talker of interest. This feature gives the HASs access to a noise-free version of the target signal. In this paper, we address the problem of estimating the target sound direction of arrival (DoA) for a binaural HAS given access to the noise-free content of the target signal. To estimate the DoA, we present a maximum likelihood framework which takes the shadowing effect of the user’s head on the received signals into account by modeling the relative transfer functions (RTFs) between the HAS’s microphones. We propose three different RTF models which have different degrees of accuracy and individualization. Further, we show that the proposed DoA estimators can be formulated in terms of inverse discrete Fourier transforms (IDFTs) to evaluate the likelihood function computationally efficiently. We extensively assess the performance of the proposed DoA estimators for various DoAs, signal to noise ratios (SNRs), and in different noisy and reverberant situations. The results show that the proposed estimators improve the performance markedlyover other recently proposed “informed” DoA estimator.

    This paper proposes a new algorithm for a real time charging recommendation for an electric vehicle (EV) driver based on an accurate real-time range indicator system to avoid range anxiety. In this algorithm the graphical user interface (GUI) of the real-time range indicator system is also used to show the driver an accurate estimation of the remaining range to destination and the current state of charge(SoC). This algorithm also calculates the minimum charging time required at the charging station to reach the destination. Charging recommendation system, electric vehicle, energy management, real-time range estimation model, state of charge estimation these are tools required for implementing this paper. The proposed system will enhance the use of electric vehicles by reducing range anxiety and reduce the necessary charging time along a route and also helps the driver to travel over a longer distance by a depleted electric battery.

They always need another person help and have to go under some physical therapies under the guidance of certain specialist to recuperate their problems in their day to day life. In this paper the proposed system helps them to move freely & safely and also takes the activities of a therapist without any third party help. This system is a combination of different features and has the ability to detect the obstacle and provides few kinds of therapies also. A smart wheelchair is developed by using eye ball movement to control the movement of wheelchair and also with microcontroller interfaced system. Besides, an ultrasound system provides the facility of automate the wheelchair for obstacle detection. The aim of our research is to implement many facilities in a single wheelchair at low cost.

Ambulance service is one of the major services which getting affected by traffic activity. Traffic congestion and tidal flow are major facts that cause delay to ambulance. The delay of emergency vehicle reaching the accident spot and the traffic in between accident spot and hospital has rising the chances of death of the affected people. In order to save human life from accidents we introduce a scheme called ITLS (Intelligent Traffic Light system).The main concept behind this scheme is to provide a smooth flow for the emergency vehicles like ambulance to reach the hospitals in time and thus minimizing the delay caused by traffic congestion and this project aims to monitor the patient heath conditions like temperature, heart rate and sends this information to the server through the use of Internet of Things(IoT) and cloud data to know the current scenario of the ambulance.

Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lights are more efficient than traditional lights. This project proposes a low cost, wireless, easy to install, adaptable, and smart system to automatically adjust the light intensity and fan speed to save energy and maintaining user satisfaction. The system combines motion sensors and light sensors in a low-power wireless solution using Zigbee communication. This proposed system aims at automatic dimming of light and adjustment of fan speed based on the surrounding and presence of people at that particular area.

TE can increase the value of CSP by allowing more thermal energy from a CSP plant’s solar field to be used, allowing a CSP plant to accommodate a larger solar field, and by allowing CSP generation to be shifted to hours with higher energy prices. We analyze the sensitivity of this value to a number of factors, including the optimization period, price and solar forecasting, ancillary service sales, and dry cooling of the CS plant, and also estimate the capacity value of a CS plant with TES.

    Water is an important natural resource which needs constant quality monitoring for ensuring its safe use. This project presents the application for Real Time River Water quality monitoring. Water quality monitoring system composed of number of sensor nodes with networking capability which are deployed at different places in the river root. Each sensor node consists of microcontroller, GSM module and water quality sensors. The sensor probes shall continuously measure the different water quality parameters like pH, Temperature, turbidity and Conductivity.     To enable off-grid deployments of autonomous systems for extended operational durations, robust energy harvesting in the medium power range (1–10 W) is essential. supercapacitor-based solar energy harvesters have emerged as a popular alternative due to their long lifetime under repeated charge-discharge cycles, low maintenance, environmental friendliness, and energy predictability and scalability. despite their advantages, such systems are not well matched with applications that require power continuously over their operational lifetime because solar power is unavailable during nights and severely reduced on cloudy days. for such applications, it is beneficial to combine solar power with another power source—such as wind—that exhibits complementary availability. In this paper, we present multiple solar/wind (hybrid) supercapacitor-based harvesters, leveraging existing open-source solar-only harvester designs. our designs center around three main categories that i) add wind harvesting capability to create a wind-only harvesting system, ii) use multiple harvesters for utilizing hybrid sources of power and for providing fault tolerance, or iii) use a single harvester in a time multiplexed configuration to simultaneously harvest from multiple power sources. We provide extensive experimental results to document the functionality and operational performance of a representative set of these designs.

    This paper presents a fixed-point reconfigurable parallel VLSI hardware architecture for realtime Electrical Capacitance Tomography (ECT). It is modular and consists of a front-end module which performs precise capacitance measurements in a time multiplexed manner using Capacitance to Digital Converter (CDC) technique. Another FPGA module performs the inverse steps of the tomography algorithm. A dual port built-in memory banks store the sensitivity matrix, the actual value of the capacitances, and the actual image. A two dimensional (2D) core multiprocessing elements (PE) engine intercommunicates with these memory banks via parallel buses. A Hardware-software codesign methodology was conducted using commercially available tools in order to concurrently tune the algorithms and hardware parameters. Hence, the hardware was designed down to the bit-level in order to reduce both the hardware cost and power consumption, while satisfying real-time constraint. Quantization errors were assessed against the image quality and bit-level simulations demonstrate the correctness of the design. Further simulations indicate that the proposed architecture achieves a speed-up of up to three orders of magnitude over the software version when the reconstruction algorithm runs on 2.53 GHZ based Pentium processor or DSP Ti’s Delphino TMS320F32837 processor. More specifically, a throughput of 17.241 Kframes/sec for both the Linear-Back Projection (LBP) and modified Landweber algorithms and 8.475 Kframes/sec for the Landweber algorithm with 200 iterations could be achieved. This performance was achieved using an array of [2×2] × [2×2] processing units. This satisfies the real-time constraint of many industrial applications.

An inexpensive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag can be attached to each product which, when placed in a smart shopping cart, can be automatically read by a cart equipped with an RFID reader. As a result, the billing can be conducted from the shopping cart itself, preventing customers from waiting in a long queue at check- out. Another benefit of this kind of system is that inventory management becomes much easier, as all items can be automatically read by an RFID reader instead of manually scanned by a laborer. In this system, the cart finds the location of items and it shows the way to the customers. The payment is done by face recognization. The cart identifies the obstacles in the way and it finds the location of items. In this paper, to validate the feasibility of a system, we identify the design requirements, a prototype system to test functionality and secure communication protocol to make the system practical. This smart shopping system is proposed with security under consideration.

In this paper, the authors extend this application through introducing a self-powered ZigBee wireless sensor node. The proposed hardware prototype consists of a ZigBee coordinator trail road-side and a series of sensors (Accelerometer, temperature sensor, humidity sensor, and infrared detector) connected to a ZigBee end device at rail-side. The ZigBee end device is powered by the magnetic levitation energy harvester and communicated wirelessly with the ZigBee coordinator. The magnetic levitation oscillator is selected due to its broad-band response characteristics. The results indicate a peak–peak output voltage of 2.3 V under the condition that the vehicle travels over the rail-born device at the speed of 105 km/h.

The most crucial step in a smart scarecrow system would be how a threat would be detected. Image processing methods can be effectively applied to detecting items in video footage. This paper will focus on bird detection and will analyze motion detection with image subtraction, bird detection with template matching and bird detection with the viola jones algorithm.

The system checks the operating parameters of the transformer i.e. current and reports the quantity that is flowing through the transformer. The system is designed such that it is able to detect currents above the normal operating level and isolate the power transformer from the distribution line. This isolation process is to ensure that the transformer is safe from any excess current levels that can make it to overheat thus get damaged. It gives a solution to the need to reduce cost of maintenance and ensure that supply of electricity to consumers is not interrupted for long periods taken while repairing or replacing destroyed transformers.A current sensor ACS712x series has been used in this project as the interfacing instrument between the power transformer and the PIC16F690 microcontroller. The PIC16F690 controls all operations that the device does. A relay and a contactor have been used as the switching gears to isolate the current transformer (CT) from the power system in case a fault occurs. A monochrome LCD has been used to show system current readings and indicate cases of over-current fault. To warn an operator of a fault occurrence, LEDs and a piezoelectric buzzer have been used. All these peripheral devices depend on the microcontroller to make them operate or otherwise. Some of the tools used in this project include MPLAB - programming software used to write the program for the microcontroller used in this project. Proteus- simulation software has also been used to test whether the design works appropriately before its implementation on hardware. Pickit3- has been used to load program into the microcontroller using MPLAB.

This is due to the presence of nonlinearity in the high power amplifiers. In this paper, a hybrid technique of Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) and Clipping is proposed for PAPR reduction. Using the QAM modulated MIMO-OFDM systems and 22 number of antennas, it has been observed that the proposed technique has better performance for enhanced PAPR reduction.

Next phase of the proposed system is multiclass classification that is based on these extracted features. This method uses multiclass Support Vector Machine (SVM) to classify the tumor. After classifying the tumor as stage IA,IB,IIA,IIB,IIIA,IIIB,IVA,IVB, using SVM classifier the overall accuracy is found to be 80 – 90%. The fine detection of tumourous area is a challenging task in medical image science. Using this proposed method it is possible to detect infected area.

The flow circulation patterns with in the tank and their effect on mixing of a soluble salt are studied. An experiment was carried out to study the effects of various parameters such as nozzle diameter, jet position and jet velocity on mixing time. Results show that, for a given geometric arrangement, jet dia is significantly more important in determining mixing time of jet mixer for Newtonian fluids. The optimum jet was found to be the jet dia of 15 mm for jet located at various positions at the top of the tank which gave the shortest mixing time for Newtonian fluids. An increase in the nozzle diameter was found to reduce the mixing time at a given level of power consumption and in turn in the energy efficiency can be improved. The results obtained shows a good understanding of hydrodynamic aspects of mixing process in jet mixed tanks

    The effect of secondary air injection (SAI) on exhaust hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emission has been investigated in a spark- ignition (SI) single cylinder engine operating at steady–state condition. An experimental study was performed to develop a more fundamental understanding of the effects of SAI on exhaust gas emissions and catalyst light-off characteristics in a modern SI engine. The effects of several design and operating parameters of secondary air injection (SAI) such as secondary air flow rate and air injection location were investigated to understand the mixing and heat loss. Time- resolved HC and CO concentrations were tracked from the cylinder head exhaust to the catalytic converter outlet. Oxidation characteristics of HC and CO are monitored with a Fast response CO and HC emission analyzer and exhaust gas temperatures with thermocouples. Effects of exhaust air-fuel ratio (A/F), location of SAI, and engine-A/F have been investigated. Results prove that HC and CO reduction worth increases as the location of SAI is closer to the exhaust.

    Engine Valves is one of the important parts which are used in all Internal Combustion Engines. The manufacturing process involves metal shearing, upsetting, forging, heat treatment, machining and special process. Out of these, an Upsetting process is an excellent electrically assisted preforming process for the production of high-quality engine valves. In which the copper jaws plays a vital role and are used for gripping the solid bar. In a copper jaw, there is only two sides are grooved and it will be used only for certain frequency, after exceeds that frequency it leads to run out specifications and improper formation of a bulb. So the copper jaws should replace, it will increase the cost and time to replace the jaws. In order to reduce the cost and time, four sides grooved copper jaws are used. In the upsetter machine, due to inappropriate parameters combinations could result in major defects on the valve. Based on parameter conditions, the solid bar deforms into proper bulb shape without cracks or folds. In order to reduce the defects in upsetter machine, the process parameter values are optimized using Taguchi's experimental design method and also a present effect of individual parameters on performance is estimated by using ANOVA. Confirmation tests with optimal levels of upsetting parameters are conducted to validate the test results.

Based on heat rate values, to improve the turbine efficiency and overall efficiency by determining the optimum process parameter levels in a steam turbine. The optimization of parameter levels is done by using Taguchi's experimental design method, Orthogonal Arrays (OA) of Taguchi's, regression analysis, Signal to Noise (S/N) ratio and are employed to find the optimal process parameter levels and also to analyze the effect of that parameters. A present effect of individual parameters on performance is estimated by using ANOVA. By using ANSYS software the turbine blades stress distribution, deflection, static and fatigue are to be analyzed. By using this technique, within the available sources, the maximum efficiency of the turbine is to be acquired.

At the premachining stage of valve manufacturing, there are manual and robot-assisted forging shop used to produce the head of the valve from preformed bar or bulb produced bar. In this project, the ways to reduce the unforged bar bulb at the robot-assisted forge shop are found. The root cause analysis (RCA) method is used to find the problems which cause unforged bar bulb. From the analysis, It has been found that the major cause of the occurrence of the unforged bar bulb is the stem bend. Because of there is no guidance for the bar, the stem bends while upsetting and it leads other causes like loss of copper jaws life, Robot collision, die damage, etc., In order to overcome this main and other causes, the design of the upsetter stopper bush is redesigned. By doing this, the quality and quantity of valves in production are increased, the occurrence of the unforged bar bulb is reduced and stem run achieved and maintained within the limit at the premachining stage.

    In a thermal power plant, one of the main parts is considered that is a condenser, which is used to condensate the low-pressure steam into a liquid state. In this, we use surface condenser type water-cooled condenser number of tubes used in circulating water for condensing of outlet turbine low-pressure steam into liquid. The circulating cooling water extracts the heat in the low-pressure heat steam and changes into warm water. The warm water is cooled by using cooling tower and again circulated to a condenser. Condenser outlet is condensate liquid. Then the condensate is again pumped and reuse to boiler this way we increase the whole performance and efficiency of the thermal power plant. The heat transfer between the water and steam is done by depending upon the heat transfer rate and thermal conductivity of the condenser tube. So we analysis the shell and tube type condenser with fluent software and also change the material of the condenser to get more heat transfer between the water and steam. At present cupronickel material is used the material have some drawbacks to fluid flow, so we analyze and use titanium material.

The present available model of the impeller is thoroughly studied and analysed. Tests are conducted on the present models and reports are generated. With the help of velocity triangles diagram it is found by changing the design of the impeller by reducing the impeller width, the flow decreases which in turn increases the head. Also when number of blades is increased from 4 to 5 pressures is increased. By implementing the above concept and proceeding with the calculations and experiments it is found that the delivery head of the pump is increased.

The optimization results showed that the combination of low feed rate with high cutting speed is necessary to minimize delamination in drilling of MDF.

A sliding mode controller was designed for an optimal wheel slip control, and the control simulation results show fast anti-lock braking.

The analysis are conducted using the scanning microscope to get the microstructure change, a pin on disk wear testing machine to analyse the wear behaviour, as well as hardness testing machine to compare the hardness change. It was shown that the deep cryogenic treatment eliminated the retain austenite and made a more uniform carbide distribution with higher percentage. It was also observed that the deep cryogenic treatment improved the wear resistance and hardness of the substance. Moreover, the hardness and wear resistance decreased in longer austenitization duration due to the grain growth and the dissolution of carbides in the structure. There are many types of heat treatment we are using hardening heat treatment method which means heat to a definite temperature and cooling or quenching. After this process tempering is done to lower the brittleness and increase in ductility.

In this paper, the effect of machining parameter on surface roughness and roundness in turning of AISI 4340 steel is investigated with Response Surface Methodology. This work analyse the effect of cutting parameters on the roundness of cylindrical parts for AISI 4330 steel in the turning operation. An experimental design by Response Surface Methodology done in this work, the control variables were: cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cutting. Metal cutting experiments and statistical tests demonstrate that the Cutting Speed significantly affects the roundness of cylindrical part. Also, the relations between the Cutting Speed –Feed Rate and Cutting Speed –Depth of Cutting affect the roundness of work piece too. Additionally, the experimental design is optimized to minimize the effect of roundness. Finally, further research directions are presented.

Firstly, so as to reduce the viscosity of Karanja oil, Methanol is added with it for transesterification process. The biodiesel (B20) of Karanja Oil Methyl Ester added with diethyl ether is tested in Variable Compression Ratio (VCR) engine. The performance of the engine can be determined by calculating the brake power, brake specific fuel consumption, brake thermal efficiency and the engine’s emission characteristics can be analyzed by checking the CO, CH, NOx from exhaust for different compression ratios and constant engine speed. From the obtained results, the brake thermal efficiency and brake specific fuel consumption of B20 is comparable to diesel. Emissions of CO, HC and smoke are reduced and NOx is increased with increasing blending of KOME with diesel.

Aluminium alloys have been used because of its light weight and better corrosion resistance. In this present work an attempt has been made to prepare the composites. LM6 aluminium alloy reinforced with boron carbide (B4C) and fly ash particles compositeshave been prepared using stir casting process. Microstructure, hardness, tensile strength, ductility and dry sliding wear behaviour of composites have been investigated. The results reveal that hardness of composites increased with increasing wt% of reinforcements. Maximum hardness of 124 BHN was observed for the composites had 5wt% of fly ash and 10 wt% of boron carbide particles. This composite can be used in various applications because of its better hardness compared to LM6 aluminium alloy.

Feed water is heated by passing it through the heat exchanger. Recovery of waste heat is done by placing heat exchanger in the flue gas, duct after air preheater stage. This is done without disturbing the original system.

    India’s energy market is one of the country a fastest developing sectors. The electricity generated from thermal power plants contributes 68.14% of the total generation. The availability of coal in the country such that the high grade of coal, which have higher calorific value, have been exhausted and progressively over grades of coal are being made available for generation of electricity in power plants.This has resulted in poor thermal efficiencies of power plants.The major loss of a boiler is caused by the hot stack gases discharging to the atmosphere in order to increase the efficiency of boiler. But we have to extract maximum amount of heat from the flue gases and increase the heat pick up the rate of the rate of the feed water outlet in boiler.

    Casting is one of the oldest techniques for producing break drum of complex shape and size which is difficult to produce in other methods. In casting there are different stages to produce a break drum from a mould, by using molten metal with pattern, as a replica. In this paper we are not focus on the defect which is made by casting while its production stages, we have focused on the defect of casting due to the rough handling of casting products in the foundry industry where we made this analysis in that leading foundry industry the product are thrown by the workers after the casting are made to the fettling section due to this there are many problems occurs like a breakage of casting product, injure of workers lie hit the worker when it is thrown, loss of productivity, decrease in profit for reducing this by economically and as safety factor we are going to implement the robotic arm unit for carrying the break drum after casting to the fettling section. By this all the mentioned factors can be reduced and economically we can also benefited. We made a design of grippers and made an analysis of gripper in this project.

    A defect in castings does not just happen. Casting defects are unusually not by accidents, they occurbecause some step in manufacturing cycle does not get properly controlled and somewhere something goes wrong. They are caused by wrong practice in one or more of the basic operations involved in the casting process as in the equipment used, or by the design of the part. A defect may be the result of a single clearly defined cause or a combination of factors, in which case necessary preventive measures are more obscure. If not controlled the amount of rejection it may be increased randomly. In this paper our work is to identify the major occurrence defects from a leading foundry industry in Tamilnadu, which we have visited for 36 days and monitor the production of castings and identify some defects for different 12 products, the total production quantity of that 12 products are 17,365 and total amount of rejection is 1407, with the help of Six-Sigma (DMAIC) method we have identified that Cold Metal defect which is the major defect from that 12 productswhich affects the quality, more when compared to other defects, so we have taken the cold metal defect and identified the root causes and suggested some remedies to control the occurrences of the cold metal defect, so that the defective products where reduced when compared to the previous rejection percentage.

    The project is about to completely eradicate the various wastages and the atmospheric emission of dust from the coal mill powder. The emission is controlled by the dedusting bag filter but the collected dusts are supplied again to the screw pump for further storage process at this point various issues such as surge, flush out of dusts. These are overcome by modification in their height elevation and the point of dust supply from the bag filter. They are supplied to the bin where the powdered coals are stored. These are stationery points where the supply of dust does not make any surge or flush out of dust. So, they are obtained to reduce the wastages and atmospheric pollution due to dust emission during their supply from the collector.

    This work investigates the result of an experimental study carried out to determine the Coefficient of performance of domestic refrigerator when a propane- butane mixture is liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) which is available and comprises 56.4% butane, 24.4%propane, and 17.2% isobutene. This paper also presented an experimental investigation of COP by the effect of changing capillary tube length, capillary tube inner diameter and capillary coil diameter on the mass flow rate of refrigerant in an adiabatic helical capillary tube. Large amount of electricity supply is not available easily in large part of underdevelopment country like India. It will also prove to be an effective for remote area such as research sites, mines, & deserts where electricity is generally not available. The LPG is cheaper and possesses an environmental free in nature with no ozone depletion potential (ODP). Also LPG is available as a side product in local refineries. The results of the present work indicate the successful use of this propane-butane mixture as an alternative refrigerant to CFCs and HFCs in domestic refrigerator. It would include Experimental setup of working model and detailed observation of the LPG refrigerator and represents its application in refinery, hotel, chemical industries where requirement of LPG is more.

    The Engine cylinder is one of the major automobile components, which is subjected to high temperature variations and thermal stresses. In order to cool the cylinder, fins are provided on the cylinder to increase the rate of heat transfer. By doing thermal analysis on the engine cylinder fins, it is helpful to know the heat dissipation inside the cylinder. The principle implemented in this project is to increase the heat dissipation rate by using the invisible working fluid, nothing but air. We know that, by increasing the surface area we can increase the heat dissipation rate, so designing such a large complex engine is very difficult. The main purpose of using these cooling fins is to cool the engine cylinder by air. Presently Material used for manufacturing cylinder fin body is Cast Iron. In this thesis, using materials Al-Si Alloys with Mg are analyzed. Thermal analysis is done in combination or two alloy materials by changing geometries.

    Hydraulic operated equipment’s are used in various fields. Some of them include lowering and raising of chair hydraulically in Barber or Dentist shops, In an Automobile hydraulic jack is raised for grease job. Stepping on the brake pedal creates the hydraulic power, which stops the rotation of the four wheelers or two wheelers to stop. In order to bend pipes, rods and bars hydraulic bending machine is the most suitable equipment. The pipe or rod to be bent is supported between the holders and jack is actuated on pipe. It exerts force on the pipe and bends it to the suitable angle depending on the dies used. Actuation of hydraulic jack is simple and easy to maintain. In industries, they use presses and load appliers to bending applications. These are bulky and expensive. Hydraulic bending machine is portable, flexible and less expensive than those which are discussed earlier. Hence it is better to replace conventional machines by hydraulic pipe bending machine. It helps in reducing size, space occupied, cost employed can be minimized. Manually operated bending machine requires no maintenance and power consumption. During mass production it can be converted into automated or electrically operated jack so that the rate of production can be increased. Applications of bending machines are found to be in production industries, petroleum, chemical, automobile etc.

    Now-a-days lean concepts are being implemented in many manufacturing industries for the identification of non-value added activities (NVA) and to reduce wastes to improve productivity. The electrical motor manufacturing industry has been selected for the investigation to identify the scope of implementing lean principles. The investigation results showed that NVAs found to be more in storage of semi-finished products in between machines, transporting parts, dimensional measurements and issues in workplace design with ergonomics perspective. Hence an object is set in this project to identify the NVA by plotting value stream mapping (VSM). Data collected from industries were used to draw present state VSM. Suitable lean tools were identified and suggested to reduce NVA. Future state map of VSM is drawn by incorporating improvement suggestions.

    Bio fuels play an important role as alternate fuel in diesel engines. In this paper, methanol fumigation on a constant speed single cylinder diesel engine is experimentally investigated. Fumigation is a method by which volatile fuels are injected into the intake manifold. Previously Carburetion and injection arrangements are used for fumigation. In this work, computer control injection using LabVIEW software is attempted for methanol fumigation and common rail is used to inject at same pressure always. Methanol at different rates is used as fumigation fuels. The performance and emission characteristics are studied with and without fumigation. Fumigation increases specific fuel consumption, carbon monoxide emission, and hydrocarbon emission. Fumigation decreases brake thermal efficiency at low load, carbon di-oxide and smoke. Fumigation increases specific fuel consumption at medium and high load conditions. The results show that fumigation replaces diesel up to certain percentage and reduces both nitrogen oxides as well as smoke.

This research approach follows a theoretical model by linking the important lean metrics that contribute to lean adoption through a questionnaire survey and assess their reliability and relationship of the responses on an ordinal scale with respect to the given constructed variables through convergent validity analysis in Visual PLS software. The approach follows a Structural equation modeling technique to empirically test the theoretical model by determining the relationship of the various responses of the respondents and the constructed variable to identify those prime lean metrics among the many practices that exist in the organization. This research is concerned only to pump industries. Further this research could be conducted in other manufacturing sectors that include machine tool, automotive, electrical and electronics and others of its kind.

The research approach helps in identifying the important lean metrics through a questionnaire survey and the responses of the selected respondents are statistically validated for their reliability using Cronbach Alpha in SPSS 20.0 software. Further the constructed variables for lean adoption were theoretically tested for their relationship through correlation and regression analysis in SPSS 20.0. The approach follows a structured research methodology to statistically validate the model to identify those variables with high convergence and leverages for the organization to be completely ‘lean’ in their process. The research provides guidelines and direction for organizations to implement those prime lean metrics with high benefits and leverages suitable for organizations to implement lean in their machine tool industries. This research is confined only to machine tool industries and in future could be extended to other manufacturing firms such as automotive, electrical and electronics, pump, textiles and other service industries too.

Indian agriculture has registered impressive growth over last few decades. In the subject of our research we have selected a six legged robot which is biologically inspired by insects. We are focusing mainly on locomotion on uneven terrain using opposite gait of locomotion. The six legged Robot has been designed to navigate smooth and irregular terrain. The stabilization of legs is inspired by biomimetic stepping leg transferences with an active balance control so as to reduce the propagation of instability while performing rapid stepping actions for a fast walking gait. Robotics has borrowed from nature with varying degrees of abstraction, from physical appearance to observed behaviors. This paper describes the proposed design and construction for the six legged normally called as hexapod robot to navigate on the uneven terrain. This robot is mainly used in agricultural purposes which can seed and spray the water automatically.
